Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures

To maintain the safety of our students, families, and staff, Lakewood Elementary School will be implementing the following arrival and dismissal procedures for the 2026-2027 school year. Please review the procedures below before arriving to drop off or pick up students. Additionally, a map has been provided for your reference. Thank you for your support and assistance! 

Morning Arrival Overview

  • The Village of Carpentersville has prohibited LEFT TURNS on Ravine Lane between the hours of 7:30-8:00 AM and 2:00-2:30 PM. Failure to do so could result in a ticket from the Carpentersville Police Department. 
     

  • Please do not park in the plaza across the street from the school. Failure to do so could result in your vehicle being towed. 
     

  • Arrival Time: Student supervision begins at 7:45 AM. Please do not drop off your student prior to 7:45 AM, as they will not be admitted into the building or supervised prior to that time. A parent must accompany their student to the main office to sign them in after 8:00 am. The student will receive a tardy pass. Students riding a bus that arrives late to school will not be marked tardy.

We ask that all parents and guardians who drive their children to or from school follow the expectations below. These expectations are in place to reduce traffic backups on Ravine Road and to prevent any safety issues on the road—particularly near the curve west of the school. 

  • Morning Drop-Off: Please do not park or stand on Ravine Road before 7:30 am.
     
  • Afternoon Pick-Up: Please do not park or stand on Ravine Road before 1:45 pm. 

Following these expectations will help keep traffic flowing safely and reduce congestion for everyone who travels through the area. 

  • Drop-n-Go: Students who are car riders will be dropped off along the sidewalk of Ravine Road. We ask that parents drop students off at the designated Drop-n-Go area only without parking or exiting the car to keep the flow of traffic.
     
  • Please do not walk your student to the front door. 
     
  • We ask that parents follow the traffic flow patterns and drop students off at the designated Student Drop-Off Zone on the side of the street closest to the school. 
     
  • It is not permitted to park and drop a student off across the street from the school. We do not want students crossing the street in the middle of traffic. 

Parents must pull all the way up in line before allowing their child to exit the vehicle. Please do not let your student out at the end of the line, this causes other vehicles to take longer to exit the line. 

Afternoon Dismissal Overview

  • Dismissal: Bus riders and car riders are dismissed at 2:15 PM. It is important that all bus lanes in our back parking lot remain open for buses to safely and efficiently exit the property. 
     

  • Car Riders: We ask that parents do not park and leave cars to locate a  student. Students will exit the building, when called, from the front of the school (Door 1).
     

  • Please do not pick up your student at the front door. 

Car Riders

  • In order to ensure the safety of our students during the dismissal process, we will be requiring ALL parents/guardians that are picking up their child to have the green card displayed on the front passenger window. 
     

  • In the order that parents are lined up, dismissal supervisors will call for each student individually from the gym to be dismissed and loaded into the appropriate car based on the green card that is placed in the right passenger window. 
     

  • Parents must remain inside their car, with their yellow sign in the window, and along the sidewalk closest to the school on Ravine Road in order for the student to be called from the gym for dismissal. 
     

  • Any changes in afternoon transportation must be communicated to the front office staff at Lakewood by 1:00 PM in order for our staff to plan safely for them.

Early Pick-Ups and Car Riders for the day

If your student needs to be picked up before the end of the school day for any reason, including:

  • Medical or dental appointments (please provide an excuse note from the Dr.)
  • Illness
  • Any other early dismissal

Please note the following requirements, this also applies to students being a Car Rider for a specific day.

  • The adult picking up the student must be listed as an Emergency Contact in PowerSchool.
  • The contact must be authorized to pick up the student in PowerSchool.
  • Parents/guardians must notify the school in advance of who will be picking up their student.
  • A valid photo ID will be required at the time of pick-up, please have it ready in the Car Rider line.

These procedures help us ensure the safety and security of all students.

Procedimientos de Llegada y Salida

Para mantener la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal, la Escuela Primaria Lakewood estará implementando los siguientes procedimientos para la llegada y la salida para el año escolar 2026-2027. Por favor, repase los procedimientos abajo antes de llegar para dejar o recoger a los estudiantes. Adicionalmente, se le ha proporcionado un mapa para su referencia. iGracias por su apoyo y ayuda! 

Descripción de Llegada en la Mañana

  • El Village de Carpentersville ha prohibido VUELTA A LA IZQUIERDA en Ravine Lane entre las 7:30-8:00 AM y las 2:00-2:30 PM. Si lo hace, podría recibir una multa del Departamento de Policía de Carpentersville. 
     

  • No se estacione en la plaza en frente de la escuela. Si lo hace, su vehículo puede ser remolcado por una grúa. 
     

  • Tiempo de llegada: La supervisión para los estudiantes empieza a las 7:45 AM. Por favor, no deje a su estudiante antes de las 7:45 AM, dado que no se les permitirá entrar al edificio o tener supervisión antes de ese tiempo. Un padre debe acompañar a su estudiante a la oficina para registrarlo después de las 8:00 am. El estudiante recibirá un pase de tardanza. Los estudiantes que tomen el autobús y que lleguen tarde no tendrán un retraso. 

Pedimos a todos los padres y tutores que llevan a sus hijos a la escuela de ida a la escuela y vuelta a casa que sigan las expectativas a continuación. Estas expectativas se implementan para reducir los atascos de tráfico en Ravine Road y prevenir cualquier problema de seguridad vial, especialmente cerca de la curva al oeste de la escuela.

  • Llegada por la mañana: No se estacione ni se quede en Ravine Road antes de las 7:30 am. 
     

  • Salida por la tarde: No se estacione ni se quede en Ravine Road antes de la 1:45 pm. 

Cumplir con estas expectativas ayudará a mantener un tráfico fluido y seguro y reducirá la congestión para todos los que transitan por la zona. 

  • Dejar y Seguir: Estudiantes que llegan en vehículo, con los padres/tutores, se dejarán afuera a lo largo de la banqueta de Ravine Road. Pedimos que los padres dejen a los estudiantes en el área designada solamente sin estacionarse o bajarse del vehículo para mantener el tráfico en movimiento. 
     

  • Por favor no acompañe a su estudiante hasta la puerta principal. 
     

  • Pedimos que los padres sigan la corriente del tráfico y dejen a los estudiantes en  la Zona de Dejar al Estudiante en el lado de la calle más cercana a la escuela. 
     

  • No se permite estacionar y dejar al estudiante cruzar las calles de la escuela. No queremos que los estudiantes crucen las calles en medio del tráfico. 
     

  • Los padres deben llegar hasta el principio de la fila antes de permitir que su estudiante salga del vehículo. 

Descripción de Salida en la Tarde

  • Salida: Los estudiantes que toman el autobús o son recogidos en vehículos, salen a las 2:15 PM. Es importante que todas las líneas designadas para los autobuses (camiones) en el estacionamiento al final del edificio, permanezcan desocupadas para que los autobuses seguramente y eficientemente salgan de la propiedad. 
     

  • Estudiantes recogidos por los padres en vehículos: Pedimos que los padres no se estacionen y salgan de sus vehículos para buscar a su estudiante. Los estudiantes saldrán del edificio, cuando se les llame por número, por la puerta en frente de la escuela (Puerta 1). 
     

  • Por favor no recoja a su estudiante en la puerta principal. 

Estudiantes que son transportados por los padres/tutores en vehículos

  • Para garantizar la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes durante el proceso de salida, necesitaremos que TODOS los padres/tutores que recojan a sus estudiantes tengan el letrero amarillo en la ventana derecha del pasajero.
     

  • En la orden en que los padres están en línea, los supervisores de salida llamarán a cada estudiante individualmente desde el gimnasio para que salgan y se suban al vehiculó apropiado según el letrero amarillo que se coloca en la ventana derecha del pasajero.
     

  • Los padres deben de permanecer dentro de sus vehículos, con el letrero en la ventanilla lo más cercano a la escuela en la calle Ravine Road en orden de que el estudiante sea llamado del gimnasio para que pueda salir.
     

  • Cualquier cambio de transportación en la tarde debe ser comunicado con el personal de la oficina de Lakewood antes de la 1:00 PM para que nuestro personal pueda hacer los cambios necesarios de manera segura.

Salida Temprana de Estudiantes

Si su estudiante necesita salir antes de la hora regular de salida por cualquier motivo, incluyendo:

  • Citas médicas o dentales (Por favor, proveer un justificante médico)
  • Enfermedad
  • Cualquier otra razón para una salida temprana

Tenga en cuenta los siguientes requisitos, esto también se aplica a los estudiantes que serán recogidos en vehículos un día específico, Car Riders.

  • El adulto que recoja al estudiante debe estar registrado como contacto de emergencia en PowerSchool.
  • El contacto debe estar autorizado para recoger al estudiante en PowerSchool.
  • Los padres/tutores deben notificar a la escuela con anticipación quién recogerá a su estudiante.
  • Se requerirá una identificación con foto válida al momento de recoger al estudiante, Por favor, téngalo listo en la fila de Car Riders.

Estos procedimientos nos ayudan a garantizar la seguridad de todos nuestros estudiantes.
