Beta Club
Junior Beta Club is a National Organization for 5th through 8th grade and has a High School Level.
Beta Club teaches leadership through service to home, school, community, and the world. Students must be in good academic standing and recommended by a teacher to join. Students are selected after the first quarter of their 5th grade year. Meetings and activities are held every month. Check the school calendar for events.
Mindstretchers The district offers a gifted resource program for students in third through eighth grades. Lakewood's fifth grade gifted students meet one hour per week, and the sixth grade students meet one and one-half hours per week. The focus of the program is to assist in developing the students' critical thinking skills. With critical thinking skills as the primary objective, students also work on their problems solving, research, and communication skills. Man In Demand Man In Demand is an annual event at Lakewood School that is just for the boys. We focus on teaching them about positive character traits that will give them the skills to grow into quality young men. In the past years we have taught about True Strength, Chivalry, and Integrity. We just so happen to have a lot of fun in the process. Just imagine, 400 boys, 75 pizzas, 40 volunteer teachers, a 40 ft. inflatable obstacle course, a rock band, dads connecting with their sons, 1200 straws, Chariot races, and a lot of smiles. Put them all together in a gym for 4 hours and it is truly “one shinning moment”. Dare to be Rare Ready to be EXTRAORDINARY??? Dare to be Rare is an annual event when the girls stay after school and have dinner, play games, share their creative side and listen to a rockin’ band! Every year we come up with a theme that teaches the girls of Lakewood how to find their own identity. We bring in speakers that will encourage the girls to pursue careers that will empower them to become strong citizens in their community. It is the event of the year for the girls at Lakewood. Besides, what girl wouldn’t want to spend a night of fun with their friends and teachers??? |
