News and Announcements

Ms. Blair has been sharing her amazing journey at the Olympics with Lakewood students and staff through pictures, emails, and live Skyping sessions. The students really enjoy getting to see what it is like to be a part of the Olympics.  Ms. Blair is a living example for students of hard work, pursuing her dream, and achieving success. We are so proud to have her as a part of the Lakewood Family!

Congratulations to the 5th Grade Students who were nominated by their teachers as leaders among the school.  These students were inducted into the Beta Club on 1/10/14.  Students and their families enjoyed a spaghetti dinner before the ceremony.  Students from band and orchestra played songs for the ceremony.  Ms. Crates and Mrs. Nechvatal, who are the leaders of Beta Club, organized a fantastic evening for the students.

The 5th and 6th grade band and orchestra students performed for two nights in December.  The families packed the gym to hear their children perform.  Their teachers: Mrs. Jones, Mr. Herath, Mrs. Christenson, and Mr. Victor did a wonderful job preparing the students and leading them in their performaces.  Mr. Roseberry also showcased the Ukelele Club students, who also performed.  We are so proud to have such great talent at Lakewood!

Congratulations to Lakewood's health teacher, Ms. Blair, who has been chosen to referee women's hockey in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

There are several published news articles to read about her story:

Lakewood students entered a contest in which they created posters about Fire Safety.  Two Lakewood students from Ms. Byrne's class won awards!  1st place went to Arly Garcia and 4th place went to Diego Simon.  Congratulations!

Over 200 students and their families came to Lakewood on Friday 11/15/13 to a Family Movie Night to watch Monsters University.  The PBIS team at Lakewood took some time at this event to highlight the PBIS program at our school.  The team also provided the students with questions to reflect on during the movie.  These questions helped students to have conversations that connected the anti-bullying message found in the movie with their lives at Lakewood School.  Everyone who came enjoyed a free bag of popcorn and a bottle of water.  Two lucky stude

Today was an exciting day at Lakewood. We launched our school-wide commitment to reading.  We kicked off the day with an assembly and then Bernie’s Book Bank came to visit Lakewood School.  Bernie’s Book Bank is dedicated to meeting a goal of distributing 1 MILLION books out to students. This means that every student at Lakewood received a package containing  6 quality books.  The students will get a second package later this year, too!
